A veteran white Chicago police officer whose heated confrontation with a black woman walking a dog on an enclosed beach made the national headlines resigned, department officials said Friday.

“Black woman walking after hours, I think I look suspicious,” Brown told ABC News in September when asked why he thought he had been stopped.
According to images from Dyker’s body camera, he had told Brown before the fight: “You have to go out … Ma’am, get out of the park!

An investigation by the Civilian Police Liability Office, which is investigating allegations of police misconduct, concluded in October, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The agency previously recommended that Dyker be released from his police powers or that he take on administrative duties, pending the outcome.
Brown previously told the Chicago Sun-Times that he wanted to see Dyker fired and prosecuted.
