Demons star Clayton Oliver is poised to take advantage after closing a massive deal that will keep him in Melbourne for the rest of the decade.
Melbourne Demons Premier League hero Clayton Oliver has been locked up at the club until 2030 after signing a new seven-year extension.
Oliver, the same favorite for the Brownlow medal alongside Brisbane’s Lachie Neale, didn’t run out of contract until the end of next season, but the Demons moved in early to make sure he stayed at the club.

AFL.com.au reports that the deal is worth approximately $ 7 million.
Follow in the footsteps of Christian Petracca, the reigning Norm Smith medalist who signed for another seven years in 2021.
Oliver has already won the award for the club’s best and fairest, two Australian blazers, and is expected to continue to add to his accolades.
Melbourne roster director Tim Lamb said it was great to make sure the Demons ’biggest stars are long-term.
“As one of the best players in the competition, we are delighted that Clayton has turned his back on Free Agency and has opted to commit to the club,” he said on the Demons website.
“It shows the faith he has in our playgroup and coaches and is a great support to the culture we have built under Simon.
“Clayton is an elite midfielder who has shown incredible consistency throughout his career, highlighted by the three Bluey Truscott trophies that already bear his name. He is loved and respected by his teammates and coaches and is a key pillar of the our ambitions to achieve sustained success.
“His ability to perform at an extremely high level week after week is a direct reflection of the amount of work and effort he puts into his training. His training standards are reflected in his performance at the time of the game. .
“At just 24, we’re excited to see what Clayton can achieve in the future and we know our members and fans will love seeing him perform in blue and red for the rest of his career.”
The Demons remain favorites to win consecutive flags despite three straight losses before a big win over the Brisbane Lions last week.
Melbourne will play the Crows, ranked 13th, this weekend in Adelaide.
