Clement Lenglet: Tottenham in talks over a loan deal for Barcelona defense

Tottenham are in talks over a loan deal for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet, but it is not the club’s only central goal this summer.

The move to the Spurs has been described as Lenglet’s most likely destination by a source close to the negotiations, if the French international leaves the Camp Nou this summer.

Still, no deal has been reached yet, as the 27-year-old is not the only Spurs center-back being consulted, as they are looking to add a left foot to the back three.

Tottenham’s managing director, Fabio Paratici, likes to line up several deals simultaneously before choosing the best option, and Villarreal’s Pau Torres, Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol are also targets.

However, it is understood that Bastoni and Gvardiol are content to stay where they are, and none of their clubs are especially open to selling, putting important price tags on each.

Barça, however, must lower players to balance their financial net play ratio and to be able to reinvest in their squad, including the new signing of Ousmane Dembele and the registration of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen.

Therefore, Lenglet is one of the many players available, despite having played 27 games in all Barça competitions last season.

Spanish international Torres has been linked with several Premier League clubs in recent seasons and Villarreal are interested in signing Giovani Lo Celso from the Spurs for good after his successful transfer there last season.

Meanwhile, the Spurs have held talks with Everton over the signings of Richarlison and Anthony Gordon and hold out hope of reaching a package for both players.

Everton are open to selling Richarlison at the right price, but are reluctant to part with their Gordon Academy graduate following their strong progress under Frank Lampard last season.

Tottenham are also still interested in signing Gordon’s under-21 team-mate Djed Spence, but have yet to agree a valuation with their club Middlesbrough.

Antonio Conte’s side have made three signings so far this summer with the arrival of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma.

Atletico are offered to sign Emerson on loan

Atletico Madrid have made an offer to sign Tottenham defender Emerson Royal on loan throughout the season.

As it stands, the Spurs have no intention of allowing Emerson, who joined last summer from Barcelona for £ 25.8 million, to leave.

Atlético tried to sign him last summer, but opted to join the Spurs, signing a five-year contract.
