WASHINGTON (KKTV) – A Colorado Springs man was allegedly filmed assaulting the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, saying he would probably lose his job as a pastor to do so.
The Justice Department shared with the public on Friday some details about the case against 33-year-old Tyler Ethridge. You can read the upload document at the end of this article. According to the documents, Ethridge climbed to a scaffold of the media and encouraged the crowd to continue fighting. He filmed several videos as he entered the Capitol.
“I’ll probably lose my job as a pastor after that,” Ethridge allegedly said in a video he filmed and posted on social media. “I think we’re at a point where talking is cheap. If that makes me lose my, my reputation, I don’t care.”
After January 6, 2021, documents indicate that Ethridge continued to post on social media about his role in the Capitol assault.
“Don’t be afraid of what you are condemned for,” says the September 24, 2021. publication. “I am not. I am ready for anything that covers me. America is still ready and prepared.”
In the 18 months since January 6, 2021, more than 850 people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
11 News Partner The Gazette learned that Ethridge graduated in 2017 from Andrew Wommack’s Charis Bible College’s Practical Government School in Woodland Park. It’s unclear if Ethridge currently works as a pastor, but The Gazette adds that on Jan. 6, Ethridge was a pastor at Christ-Center Church in Tampa, Dover, Florida. The congregation announced on January 19 that it was no longer with the parish.
This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Anti-Terrorism Section of the Justice Department of the National Security Division. The upload documents were filed on July 7:
