1st commercial for Ponds

Developers in The Ponds neighborhood have unveiled plans for what will be the first of two phases of commercial construction.
The proposal presented this week shows plans for a commercial development of four buildings at 988 Frost Road at the intersection with Gordon Drive.
A second phase on the adjacent property is expected to be advanced later.
Commercial development would be directly across Frost Road from a 300-unit rental development given to third reading by the council this week.
Residential and commercial projects are part of a general village center within the larger development of Ponds.
The commercial proposal now in front of the planning department, would be located on approximately seven hectares of land.
A development rationale states that the project would be designed to provide “basic day-to-day services for the area.”
Although no specific details have been released yet, planner Tyler Caswell says he believes there will be room for four tenants.
The larger building appears to be large enough to house a grocery store.
The rational also mentions a possible restaurant on the spot.
Caswell also indicates that the property is located for a liquor store, although there is no indication that it will be moved to the site.
The developer also plans to use “stylized wooden easel elements,” a look at the train easels in the suburbs.
