There’s a lot of action to watch today, so let’s briefly go over some things to keep in mind.
The athletics program begins this morning at the Alexander Stadium. Katarina Johnson-Thompson will compete in the women’s heptathlon which will go through the 100m hurdles and shot put events in the morning session. It starts shortly after 10am and will continue into the afternoon session.
There are also the first events of the men’s and women’s 100m which will feature Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake and five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah. This is alongside the first round of the women’s 800m in which Laura Muir will be running.
Plenty of swimming heats to catch you too before Adam Peaty makes his latest bid for Commonwealth gold this evening in the men’s 50m breaststroke. After everything he said yesterday, it should definitely be an interesting watch.
We expect even more gold from the English gymnasts this afternoon with Jake Jarman, Joe Fraser and James Hall back in action alongside Alice Kinsella, Georgia-Mae Fenton and Ondine Achampong in the individual apparatus finals.
Gold medals will also be awarded in judo, weightlifting and table tennis. All home nations are well positioned to get on the podium at these events.
And of course we’ll be bringing you updates from the hockey, netball and cricket group stages throughout the day.
