Australia remained in the medal mix throughout Thursday evening at the Birmingham Arena, but their silver medal was not confirmed until after the ribbon event was completed.
The final act, with Australia all but locked up for silver, was Gill’s tape routine, to the tune of Sonny Bono’s ‘Bang Bang’.
Gill’s entertaining routine scored a 25.200, but ultimately ended up being one of the two lowest scores missing from the final score.
But Australia’s night still ended with a ‘Bang Bang’ as they improved on Gold Coast’s bronze.
