Microsoft has reportedly made “several major announcements before the start of the Summer Game Fest” on June 9, one of which will be a new game demo feature for the Xbox Game Pass.
Update:Microsoft has now announced Project Moorcroft, confirming that the demos will arrive on Xbox Game Pass.
“We’re also revealing the first details of the Moorcroft Project, a program that offers the fun and discovery of playing new and selected demos of upcoming games to our Xbox Game Pass members,” Microsoft said in an Xbox Wire post.
This new program will hit Xbox Game Pass next year “starting with a focus on giving independent developers around the world more opportunities to generate excitement for their games.” Developers will be able to see how their demos work, and Microsoft also says that they will be compensated for including their games in the program, which will allow them to “bring their creativity to Xbox and reach new audiences with Game Pass.”

Henderson says the new feature will reach Xbox Game Pass subscribers “by next year” and “will start focusing on helping independent game developers around the world.” It seems that the developers who join the program will get the necessary data for the development and compensation of Microsoft.
Elsewhere, Henderson reports that Microsoft will also announce that it will expand its partnership with Samsung and that Xbox Cloud Gaming will reach more countries.
As with all rumors like this, it’s worth taking it with the usual pinch of salt until it’s official. The report states that Microsoft will make these announcements a few hours before the start of Summer Game Fest Live on June 9, so we may not have to wait long.
