According to a Business Insider report, Elon Musk is the father of twins with current Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis. Business Insider shared a court document this May with Zilis and Musk requesting a name change for the two children, making “the children’s last name is their father’s and their mother’s last name listed in the his middle name “. CNN Business obtained a lawsuit from Travis County, Texas, showing that the petition was filed in April 2022 and obtained in May.
Apparently in response to the article, Musk tweeted, “Doing everything we can to help the underpopulation crisis. The collapse of the birth rate is the greatest danger facing civilization,” followed by “mark my words, unfortunately they are true.”

According to a LinkedIn page, Zilis is a graduate of Yale and has worked at Neuralink, Musk’s company focused on creating brain-computer interface technology, since 2017. She also includes a job at Tesla Motors from 2017 until in 2019 working in AI with autopilot and chip design and employment teams starting in 2016 with OpenAI, the non-profit AI security group that Musk helped found. He has been a member of the OpenAI board since 2020. In a statement during the Canadian Undergraduate Conference on AI last year, he said he met Musk through his role with OpenAI.
Zilis is from Canada, and his profile lists the board seats of two Canadian AI organizations in the past. As mentioned in the Business Insider report, he appeared on a Forbes list of under-30s in 2015 based on his role as a founding member of the Bloomberg Beta investment team. He has written about the state of machine learning and was in Do You Trust This Computer ?, a documentary about the challenges of AI.
