COVID-19 case numbers from across Australia’s states and territories

Here’s a quick summary of the latest COVID-19 statistics for each Australian jurisdiction for 23 July 2022.

NSW

NSW has recorded 41 deaths and 14,953 new cases of COVID.

NSW Health said 23 of those deaths were reported through the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and not all reported deaths occurred in the week they were reported.

There are 2,176 people in the hospital, 59 of them in the ICU.

Northern Territory

There are 89 people in NT hospitals, including 2 in ICU, as the Territory records 422 new cases of COVID-19.

No deaths were reported during the reporting period.

Victory

Victoria has recorded 44 deaths, one of the highest tolls reported in a day since the pandemic began, and 10,812 new cases of COVID-19.

It is the biggest daily increase since 59 deaths were recorded on September 4, 2020.

The daily death toll includes a number of recent deaths reported to health authorities and does not indicate that all deaths occurred the previous day.

There are 820 people in the hospital, including 29 in the ICU.

tasmania

Tasmania has recorded one death and 1,363 new cases of COVID-19.

There are 176 people in the hospital with the virus, including 3 in the ICU and 51 are being treated specifically for COVID.
