Evusheld is now available

Evusheld ™ is available in Saskatchewan for the pre-exposure prophylaxis of COVID-19 in adults and adolescents (12 years of age and older), with a minimum weight of 40 kg, who have not had recent known exposure to a person affected by COVID- 19. i:

  • They are immunocompromised and are unlikely to develop an adequate immune response to vaccination; o
  • Vaccination against COVID-19 is not recommended.

If the use of Evusheld ™ is being considered, it should be considered on a case-by-case basis where the potential benefit is expected to outweigh any potential risks. There are very strict eligibility criteria and Evusheld ™ is not suitable for everyone. Check with your prescriber (doctor or nurse) to see if this is an option for you. Evusheld ™ is only available if your prescriber issues a prescription.

Weekly report on COVID-19

Published on Thursday, the Ministry of Health’s integrated epidemiology report (epi) COVID-19 uses multiple data sources and includes confirmed laboratory cases, deaths, tests, information on vaccinations at the provincial and zonal level, as well as trends of hospital and ICU censuses and rapid distribution. antigen testing. This week’s epic report looks at data from Sunday, June 5, to Saturday, June 11, 2022. Hospitalization data is a comparison from June 9 to 15, 2022.

Summary of the week from June 5 to 11, 2022

  • 5,880 laboratory tests were performed in Saskatchewan reflecting 4.9 tests performed per 1,000 inhabitants. The number of tests was almost identical to the number of tests the previous week (5,888).
  • The positivity of the weekly test of 6.5 percent is an increase over the previous week (4.6 percent).
  • 394 new cases were confirmed, reflecting 24 laboratory-confirmed cases per 100,000 population, more than the number of new cases in the previous week (285).
  • Most laboratory-confirmed cases this week were 50 years of age or older (54.8%).
  • 94 new lineage results have been reported this week. Of the 94 variants of concern identified by genome-wide sequencing, 100% were Omicron.
  • The Omicron BA.2 underline accounted for 90.4% of the concern variants reported this week. BA.2 underlining is more transmissible compared to pre-COVID-19 and BA.1 underlining, but there is no current evidence of increased severity.
  • There were 17 recently reported deaths from COVID-19 (two during the week and 15 before (September 28, 2021 to June 4, 2022), but this week they were reported, more than the previous week (10).   • As of June 12, 2022, there were 543 Paxlovid prescriptions and 41 Remdesivir prescriptions with a total of 118 completed infusions.
  • More than 21.3 million rapid antigen testing kits have been distributed in the province. They are easily accessible in over 600 locations.
