COVID-19 update on July 20, 2022

WA Health reports a total of 7,901 new cases at 6 p.m. last night. There are currently 37,244 active cases in Western Australia.

At 6pm last night, there were 457 people with COVID-19 in the hospital, 22 in the ICU.

Unfortunately, today’s report includes two deaths, which were reported yesterday to WA Health: a man in his 80s and a man in his 70s.

Notes

  1. These data are based on the residential zip code of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remaining reported daily cases (761) do not yet have an assigned region. The data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 7,901 cases, 2,955 were confirmed by PCR testing, the remaining 4,946 were rapid self-reported positive antigen tests.

A total of 8,124 PCR tests were performed yesterday at public or private pathology clinics.

WA has reported 1,013,520 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

In accordance with national guidelines, WA Health has adjusted the total number of cases reported in that state to prevent positive secondary test results from people who do not meet the national case definition for a reinfection.
