COVID-19 update on June 16, 2022

WA Health reports a total of 6,249 new cases as of 8:00 pm last night. There are currently 35,451 active cases in Western Australia.

As of 8pm last night, there were 262 people with COVID-19 in the hospital, 10 in the ICU.

Unfortunately, today’s report includes 14 deaths dating back to May 14 that were reported yesterday to WA Health; two women and a man in his 90s, a woman and four men in his 80s, a man in his 70s, a man in his 60s, three women in his 60s and a man in his 30s years.

Due to confidentiality requirements, the Department will not provide further information on such cases.

Notes

  1. These data are based on the residential zip code of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remaining reported daily cases (91) do not yet have an assigned region. The data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 6,249 cases, 2,475 were confirmed by the PCR test, the remaining 3,774 were rapid self-reported positive antigen tests.

A total of 7,874 PCR tests were performed yesterday in public or private pathology clinics.

WA has reported 838,548 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
