COVID-19 update on June 5, 2022

WA Health reports a total of 5,368 new cases as of 8pm last night. There are currently 43,355 active cases in Western Australia.

As of 8pm last night, there were 280 people with COVID-19 in the hospital, 15 in the ICU.

Unfortunately, today’s report includes 5 new deaths dating back to May 25 that were reported yesterday at WA Health; a man in his 90s, a man and a woman in his 80s and two women in their 70s.

Due to confidentiality requirements, the Department will not provide further information on such cases.

Notes

  1. These data are based on the residential zip code of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remaining reported daily cases (54) do not yet have an assigned region. The data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 5,368 cases, 2,033 were confirmed by PCR testing, the remaining 3,335 were rapid self-reported positive antigen tests.

A total of 6,283 PCR tests were performed yesterday at public or private pathology clinics.

WA has reported 770,965 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
