Rio Ferdinand believes Cristiano Ronaldo deliberately ignored Jamie Carragher ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool.
The 37-year-old Portuguese star slammed the Sky Sports pundits on the sidelines and chose to ignore Carragher.
Ronaldo, who was named among the substitutes for the crucial bottom clash, spoke to former teammates Gary Neville and Roy Keane before continuing his warm-up.

Moments earlier, Carragher suggested United could be better off without Ronaldo and Ferdinand believes the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wanted to make a point by “humiliating” the former Liverpool defender.
“Knowing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jamie Carragher has talked a lot about Cristiano Ronaldo being the problem and things like that,” Ferdinand said speaking to FIVE.
“Trust me, Cristiano would have seen those comments and been thinking I’m going to walk over there and let this guy know with a little … he’s got to calm him down, humiliate him and show him up, whatever. you want dress it up live on tv.
“Cristiano is very calculated, he is very aware of what is going on, he is not someone who sits at home and shuts down.”

Ferdinand also claimed that Ronaldo is aware of everything that is said about him in the media. He added: “I’ve always said this, he uses social media and people’s comments as fuel to push him to be the best he’s been since he was a kid.
“Anyone who was talking bad about him in the media knew that. He mentioned Gary Lineker to me once about things because Gary Lineker is a big Messi fan.
“I was thinking, bro, you’re not even in this country, how do you see the pictures? He knows everything.
“For Jamie Carragher to continually call him out, he’s entitled to his own opinion Jamie, but Cristiano will take it personally.
“He’s an emotional guy and he’s going to show that I wasn’t surprised by his actions. I find it funny, I find it hilarious to be honest.’
Ronaldo endured a frustrating night on the bench before coming on after 86 minutes
Despite United’s 2-1 win, Ronaldo had a night to forget, having been benched for Anthony Elanga before coming on with just four minutes remaining in the game.
Meanwhile, Carragher poked fun at himself as he tweeted: “Bad night from start to finish! clean sheet by my good mate Ronaldo, Man Utd showing fight and quality and Liverpool all round!!’
He then went on to say that his opinion on Ronaldo’s move to United was right all along. “I get a custard cake for doing well with Ronaldo from day one!” the 44-year-old wrote.
“ETH’s cream pie for him shows the manager thinks the same!! Maybe ex Man United Legends (sycophants!) will agree with me now.”
