Cyberpunk 2077 has a board game

Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a board game courtesy of a Kickstarter campaign. Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City is a weird twist on the high-tech, low-life bottom of the world brought to life by CD Projekt Red and Mike Pondsmith. The game is published by CMON Games, which has brought together adaptations of board games from God of War and Bloodborne in addition to other existing IPs.

If the slang synopsis of the game provided on its Kickstarter page is an indicator, it’s clear that its creators have a great reverence for the source material: “Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City is a competitive game in which 1 – 4. Take on the role of ruthless gangs fighting for control of the underground in the brilliant infernal hole that is Night City, face other gangs in the flesh or on the net as your hard-working enterprising gang seeks to dominate the criminal underworld that rules the streets. Only the most daring will be remembered and your Street Cred will pave the way for you to the top. ”

The aesthetics and fiction of this game seem to be based more on the Cyberpunk 2077 video game released by CD Projekt Red, rather than a riff on the original material written by Mike Pondsmith in the role-playing game Cyberpunk on paper and pen. In addition to its crimson and neon yellow aesthetic feature, this board game comes packaged with lots of unpainted plastic miniatures that bear the resemblance of notable video game characters. Players can expect to see Jackie Welles, Johnny Silverhand and Judy Alvarez among the two dozen plastic miniatures expected to be shipped with the game.

At the time of publication, the project has more than tripled its $ 100,000 funding goal and is far from its final goal with about 10 days remaining for its campaign. Currently, the only level of funding available is set at $ 110, but allows you to access the main box and all thumbnails.

We understand that a hot stack of unpainted plastic is hard to resist, but it’s worth mentioning that the current shipping schedule doesn’t begin until at least eight months after the end of Kickstarter. And just like the digital version of Cyberpunk, there is no guarantee that it will not be delayed.
