After shutting down the servers of the three Dark Souls titles on the computer due to security issues, FromSoftware has finally spoken out and stated that it is already working to get the games back online.
Initially disabled due to an exploit discovered in Dark Souls 3 that could allow malicious players to hack into other players’ computers, FromSoftware claimed it would be a temporary server interruption until the release of Elden Ring . However, more than three months later, we have just received an update on the issue. First claimed by a Reddit user and then confirmed by PCGamer, FromSoftware says the online game will return to Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 soon.
In an email to PCGamer, FromSoftware stated: “We are currently in the process of restoring the Dark Souls series online servers to PC. We plan to restore the online service for each game progressively, recovering the Dark “Once we’ve completed the work needed to fix the problem, we’ll provide additional updates as soon as the restore schedule is complete. We want to thank all of our players for their patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.”
Although it does not provide exact dates, or even a period of time, for when the servers will reconnect, this is the first time the study has officially recognized the problem since the shutdown in early February. It looks like Dark Souls 3 will be the first game to be put back online, and the other two will follow some time later.
