The bravest cop in Woodsboro has talked about a Scream 6 movie without Sidney Prescott. David Arquette, who played Dewey Riley in the franchise, addressed Neve Campbell’s announcement that he would not be in the sixth installment amid a wage dispute.

While Arquette says Campbell’s decision was “unfortunate,” she also says she understands where she’s coming from (and, conversely, the studio).

“I’d love for her to be a part of it,” the actor told ComicBook. “A Scream movie without Sidney is a little unfortunate, but I understand your decision. In a way, it’s all a business, they have to balance all these elements to fit a budget and produce a movie.” .

Arquette also tells ComicBook that he doesn’t see Campbell’s release of this film as a completely closed door to Sidney’s character. “She is OK [can] absolutely in the future, but I think the fans depend on them in the future, “he said.

Campbell announced his release from the film on Monday. “Unfortunately, I will not make the next Scream movie,” he said in a statement. “As a woman, I’ve had to work very hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt that the offer they presented me was not equivalent to the value I brought to the franchise.”

Scream 5, for which Campbell and Arquette returned, along with their fellow Scream veterinarian Courteney Cox, raised nearly $ 140 million worldwide. And by the deadline, the entire franchise has raised about $ 744 million during his career.

Scream 6 will begin filming this summer, with a related day scheduled for March 2023. Scream 5 stars Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding are set to reprise their roles.
