Dbrand trolls Nothing with Something … stickers

After months of teasing and exaggeration, Nothing Phone 1 is finally here. This week we got our hands on the device and determined that it’s mostly a normal smartphone with a cool translucent back, so wouldn’t it be great if you could have that look on the phone you already have?

This is what the Dbrand device equipment company set out to do, and ended up doing … Something. This is a collection of skins and cases that match the white and gray geometric style of the visible inner parts of Nothing Phone 1, but you can pair them with selected iPhones, Pixels, and other devices.

Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz said the main attraction of the Nothing phone is its aesthetics and he believes no one would want to cover it with a case or skin. “If we can’t cover the phone, how do we benefit from Nothing?” Ijaz said by email. Dbrand’s belief is that there won’t be many Nothing phones in the wild and that the brand is “untested” and “overpriced,” but people are interested in the look.

There is also an Easter egg in the form of GPS coordinates printed on the back of the label Something: 34.47972001011N 113.3353001040W Image: Dbrand

The Something line is now available with limited capacity and its initial run will include versions for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, Pixel 6 Pro and Samsung S22 Ultra. You can get them as a skin for $ 24.95 or as a grip case for $ 49.90. There are also plans to release a version of Nintendo Switch, and there will be additional devices on demand.

Dbrand is known for his sarcastic and sarcastic marketing that mocks tech companies. Last year, he even received a letter of cessation and withdrawal from Sony to launch side plate replacements for the PS5 after Dbrand included them on the product page with the message, “Go ahead, sue us.” Dbrand would later redesign the plates to avoid looking like the officers, and the product page now headlines, “Checkmate, Lawyers.” It remains to be seen if Nothing will sue Dbrand for anything.
