DCE stars Manly winning big on Knights

The Sea Eagles continued their dominant form at home in 2022 with a 42-12 win over Newcastle on Saturday night, with skipper Daly Cherry-Evans setting three tries and winger Jason Saab scoring a double.

Three days after helping Queensland win the Origin decision, Cherry-Evans was in good contact at 4 Pines Park, helping Manly score five unanswered tries in the last half hour and win for the sixth time in seven home games this season.

The two teams exchanged converted tries for the first 20 minutes, but Manly withdrew in the final 10 minutes of the half thanks to a Saab try and a Cherry-Evans penalty.

Anthony Milford was sent off for a foul on Reuben Garrick.

What they said

“The second half we were able to consolidate a bit and eventually disappear, but I don’t think the score really reflects the kind of game it was. Especially that first half that was pretty good from end to end.” – Des Hasler, Sea Eagles coach

“This is a weird game to analyze … there’s a lot to build, a lot more than last week. But then there will also be disappointing things to look at. We lost three key players and we had a man in the trash. to have a little struggle, so there is a little bit of it too. ” – Adam O’Brien, Knights coach.
