LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Local leaders held a press conference on Sunday to give updates on Thursday night’s deadly shooting in Floyd County.

Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt said an emergency protection order (EPO) was issued to suspect Lance Storz after interviewing his wife.
Sheriff Hunt said some of Storz’s wife’s allegations against Storz were rape and detention against her will. She told them she had guns.
Deputies went to conduct a welfare check at Storz’s home Thursday afternoon. On her first visit, Storz’s wife ran to the deputies to get in the car. He said he had to leave and that Storz was sleeping inside.
After learning of this information, two deputies were called in to help serve the EPO and arrest Storz for fourth-degree attack.
When the apartment arrived at Stortz’s house, they realized he was pulling the shutters out the window. According to Hunt, Storz immediately opened the door “as if he was waiting for them. He knew they were coming.” Hunt also confirmed that Storz had “high-caliber weapons” and was wearing an armored vest at the time of the shooting.
Authorities said the shooting lasted for hours.
When asked, Floyd County Attorney Keith Bartley said he has no authority to decide whether to pursue the death penalty against Storz, but said, “Death is not good enough for this son. d’ab **** “.
Captain Ralph Frasure, Deputy William Petry, officer and dog handler Jacob Chaffins and the K-9 Drago were killed in Thursday night’s shooting. A full investigation is still ongoing.
