Dear partner of Myrtle, father of Becky and Daryl (December) and grandfather of Felix & Sophia. His cheerful demeanor and constant optimism will be missed by all. He died peacefully at his home in Exeter on June 14 at the age of 70 after a short but brave battle with motor neuron disease. Dear husband of Lynda, much loved father of Melissa, David and Amy, a very special grandfather to Emily-Mae, Stephanie and Elizabeth. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Richard was a kind, loving and kind man, who made a great contribution to the NHS during his 40 years of financial career. When he retired, he devoted his time to charitable work using his considerable skills and served on the Board of Trustees of Devon Wildlife Trust, Exeter Community Initiatives, Refuge for Pets and Northbrook Community Trust. He will be fondly remembered for his love of music and his inspiring desire to see the good in everything, and of course, that cheeky smile. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 2 p.m., at Exeter Cathedral, followed by a private family cremation. You can wear bright summer clothes to celebrate your life.
