Those who wondered if receiver Deebo Samuel would join his San Francisco 49ers teammates on training camp during the mandatory minicamp have received their response today. The star player was present but not prepared for the first day of the three-day minicamp, which should come as no surprise. Athletic reported that Samuel spent time running in a side field.

NFL expert Ian Rapoport first reported this morning that Samuel would be attending this week’s activities in Santa Clara. However, there was no guarantee that he would practice. Earlier this offseason, the receiver expressed that he was unwilling to stay with the team, asking to be changed. The 49ers, however, had no desire to change their best offensive weapon.
“We haven’t changed it, and it would be silly to change it. So yes, Deebo will be in the 49ers this season,” general manager John Lynch said last week.
Although previous internships, which were part of the organized team activities (OTA), were voluntary, this week’s ones are necessary. Injured players such as rehabilitation quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) have been excused. The team could have fined Samuel for not being informed due to his dispute over the extension of the contract.
Defensive Nick Bosa and tackle Trent Williams are also expected to attend. Both players lost OTA.
“I know [Williams will] At least be here, so he says, when it’s mandatory, “shared head coach Kyle Shanahan at the start of the OTAs.” And the same with Bosa. And I look forward to seeing Deebo as well. “
Both Bosa and Williams wore the uniform today and have participated in training. Although, it is said, they only participated in individual drills.

Williams suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain during the 49ers playoff game against the Green Bay Packers and managed to fight for the NFC title against the Los Angeles Rams during the game. Against the Rams, his overall 52.5 Pro Football Focus mark was the low of the season.
