The season of the enchanted Destiny 2 is almost over at this point, with one main exception, that Solstice of Heroes will arrive in about two weeks, except that now they only call it “Solstice”.
As we go to the EAZ for the fourth year in a row, things are finally starting to change a bit in terms of our goals there. Bungie has already talked about “Bonfire Bash”, the new EAZ activity:
“Another novelty coming to Solstice is an activity in the European Air Zone called Bonfire Bash, where the Guardians will build and feed what can only be described as‘ parachute bonfires ’while the enemies of summer fun (including the Taken, Cabal, Hive)., And Fallen) will try to crash the party and put out the fires. “
However, we can already take a look at some of the rewards we want to earn this time around, such as the new armor sets and the new Solstice weapon that will join the compass rose as a reward. We also know it will have a new source shot, but I haven’t seen that leak yet.
Yes, they are data mines. No, they’re not related to the story, so I don’t mind posting them. But keep in mind if you don’t want to … see these rewards, I guess.
The handgun doesn’t have a name I’ve seen yet, but it looks like it’s based on the Better Devils, the sunset handgun that was one of Destiny 2’s favorites. Maybe they’ll call it Better Angels:

We also have at least a cursory look at the Solstice armor in all three classes, though only in the form of a tiny icon, not actually a character:
While it has the traditional golden / white Solstice look, there is also a lot of black. This view also does not show what the elemental glows of the armor will undoubtedly be, as unlocking these glows has been part of all sets so far. We already have at least some information on how the cultivation of armatures will work this time, thanks to a previous TWAB:
“While you can get multiple instances of a helmet, for example, the armor upgrade will allow you to re-throw your stats and the armor’s stats potential will be shared between those drops.”
The Solstice 2022 will also feature a cosmetics pass that you can buy to get many cosmetics from the event for a cheaper price than it would be if you compressed them all separately. It’s still unclear what this will do with individualized / bright powder purchases, but we’ll have to see how it works in practice.
I’m glad, at the very least, that EAZ is changing things after all this time, and I’m curious to see the process of unlocking these sets and what this handgun can do this time. More will come, and I would expect some news about Solstice at next week’s TWAB, maybe.
