Paid volunteers (also known as employees) write code, while unpaid volunteers manage location and moderation.
Developer The Day Before Fntastic is looking for unpaid volunteers to do jobs like locating and moderating the title, Steam’s most coveted game.
Fntastic detailed what would include unpaid volunteer work on its website and through a YouTube video.
“Fntastic’s culture is based on the idea of volunteering,” says the developer’s official website. “That means all Fntastic members are volunteers.”
Full-time “volunteers” receive a salary, so they are basically employed, while part-time volunteers do not. Instead, these workers will be offered items such as certificates of participation and game codes for their services.
“Being a volunteer means that you willingly participate by working for a common cause,” the developer continued in a video. “Volunteering means that in every action you take, you bring some satisfaction.”
Zach Jackson of Well Played took to Twitter after talking to Fntastic about the volunteer scheme and was told that “the (unpaid) aspect of volunteering is not related to‘ writing code or development itself ‘. Just things like location and moderation, “which aligns with the activities listed on the developer’s website.
What do you think of Fntastic’s plan to use unpaid workers to help submit their title?
