The BBC has denied viewers’ claims that Diana Ross was mimicking during her performance at the Platinum Party at the Palace.
Motown legend closed the show at Buckingham Palace on Saturday night.
Some viewers watching BBC One highlighted a moment when Ross kissed the crowd, but it seemed that his voice continued.
For members of the Palace audience, the star’s voice appeared out of tune during his first song, Chain Reaction, but they were perfectly in tune with the TV show.
However, a spokesman for BBC Studios, who produced the show, said: “Mrs Ross sang live throughout her performance and also had the support of choirs and an orchestra and a live choir.” .
Ross seemed to be adjusting a monitor attached to his belt for the first few minutes as a whole. Performers may struggle to sing in tune if they are not heard properly.
But sources said the producers were unaware of any sound or technical issues during the set.
This was the first live show in the UK in 15 years for 78-year-old Ross. This month he will embark on a tour of the UK, which will start at Cardiff Castle on June 10, and on June 26 he will play the ‘Legends’ slot at the Glastonbury Festival.
