It’s now a Thai food haven like Giggling Squid, but remember enjoying a night at Tombland’s Hy’s nightclub?
It was a Norwich nightlife institution for 30 years and was run by businessman Hy Kurzner, who died in 2011.
He was credited with transforming Tombland into the throbbing heart of Norwich’s nightlife scene and also ran Boswells Restaurant and Pizza One Pancakes Too.
Kurzner built the club during the disco era of the late 1970s and 1980s, with the site attracting crowds of partygoers in the late 1990s.
The club had an armored glass floor that made thousands of light patterns at the time of the music, in 1983 it was the only fixed floor of its kind in the whole of the UK.
