Does Zuckerberg really think we’ll pay more for Meta Quest 2?

Imagine buying something and then being told it’s worth more than you paid for. That’s how real estate works, right? At least, that’s how my millennial brain has interpreted it so far. Maybe I shouldn’t have spent all my money on avocado toast! Price hikes aren’t something we normally expect to happen with gadgets anyway. Price cuts are normal, but raising the price of a device seems like it would do more to deter sales than attract them. This week on Gadgettes, we wonder why Meta is raising the price of its Quest 2 VR headset by $US100 ($139) for each tier. It’s now $400 ($555) for the 128GB version and $500 ($694) for the 256GB version.

We discuss why this seems like a regressive strategy that could end up hurting VR rather than helping Meta’s bottom line, even if the headset helped spark the VR revolution. The perks they include for selling these things at a higher price don’t seem worth it either. Meta, you’re going to have to work harder than just throwing in a free copy of Beat Saber.

Next, we’ll walk you through Logitech’s new Aurora collection of gaming peripherals. They include two new keyboards, the G713 wired keyboard and the G715 wireless keyboard. Both are Tenkeyless mechanical keyboards with illuminated RGB and interchangeable faceplates and keys. We’ll also show you the G705 wireless mouse, G735 wireless headphones, and the matching heart-shaped case that holds both accessories. It’s all so adorable! But it’s also very indulgent, even if these Logitech devices have gaming DNA pulsating throughout. They aren’t cheap either; The Logitech Wireless Keyboard costs as much as other quality gaming peripherals, and buying the whole set would cost you more than hundreds of dollars. We’re still testing the devices and will provide a full review in the coming weeks.
