Legendary game maker John Romero, best known for his work on developer id Software’s seminal shooter series in the 1990s, such as Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake, has announced that he is working on a new FPS in collaboration with a ” main editor “still unnamed.
Romero shared the news in a statement posted on Twitter, revealing that the project is managed by Romero Games, which most recently worked on the Mafia strategy title Empire of Sin for Paradox Interactive, and would be built on around an “original and new.” IP.
Beyond that, the details are sparse: official FAQs say “it’s too early to share any other information” – and the rest of the ad only notes that Romero Games is currently hiring on a number of sites for the its new FPS, and that is especially I would like to hear from those who have experience with Unreal Engine 5.
Sigil, the fifth unofficial episode of John Romero’s Doom, premiered in 2019.

This project, which featured 18 new levels designed by Romero, was well received and Romero has since announced that he is working on a sequel that will use Doom 2.
