Dragons star escapes punishment for ugly hip fall on Cowboys forward

Dragons star Jack Bird may be considered lucky after escaping without charge from the game review committee for his hip-hop game on Cowboys team Jordan McLean.

The incident in the 59th minute of the Dragons’ 31-12 loss to the Cowboys saw Bird fall to the top of McLean’s right leg after leaving his feet, with the Cowboys star rising grabbing her knee.

The tackle was not initially picked up before referee Todd Smith placed Bird on report at the end of the Cowboys’ set.

“We could have a report here,” Dan Ginnane told Fox League.

“You’re reporting a hip fall there in Jordan (McLean),” referee Smith told Bird.

“That doesn’t look good, yes,” Ginnane said after watching the tackle repeat.

“I’m not surprised he was a little sore there, McLean.

“That could be expensive, the hip fall over Bird.”

However, the NRL confirmed Saturday morning that the party’s review committee had not filed any charges against the Dragons’ clash with the Cowboys.
