Rapper Drake has not been arrested in Sweden, his team told The Hollywood Reporter, dispelling the feverish speculation that hit social media Thursday night.
Internet speculation suggests Drake had been arrested by local police at a Stockholm nightclub. His team categorically tells THR that the Grammy winner was at his hotel in the Swedish capital and had not been arrested.
As documented in a series of Instagram posts, the Canadian rapper landed at Sweden’s Arlanda Airport on Wednesday at lunchtime, flying with his personal baby blue Boeing 767 called “Air Drake”. Since landing in Sweden, local media say the rapper visited Stockholm’s modern Östermalm district and went to Ciccio’s restaurant.
It is unclear whether the rapper is in Sweden to record music or for personal reasons.
Last month, Drake released his seventh Honestly-inspired studio album, Nevermind, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
On Wednesday, Drake revealed details of a music festival in his hometown of Toronto later this month. The rapper’s October World Weekend will take place from July 28 to August. 1 with a lineup that includes a Young Money reunion with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, as well as appearances by Lil Baby and Chris Brown.
