Highway 1 has reopened in both directions near Field, BC following an accident on Wednesday morning that claimed the life of a driver.
BC RCMP says members of the Golden Detachment, along with the BC Highway Patrol, responded to the scene of a collision between a logging truck and an SUV near Emerald Lake Road shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the SUV, which was heading east, crossed the road of the truck in the opposite direction.
“The driver of the felling truck was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the driver of the SUV did not survive,” the RCMP said in a statement.
The investigation continues, but police say “there is no crime” involved in the incident.
The victim has not been identified.
