Vernon RCMP had a long busy weekend.

Although police responded to 310 service calls between Thursday afternoon and Sunday at midnight, they report a well-mannered crowd at the Funtastic softball tournament and music festival.

“Vernon North Okanagan RCMP officers maintained a uniformed presence at the event throughout the weekend. We are pleased to report that we did not find any major issues,” spokesman Const said. Chris Terleski.

But, they kept jumping to another place.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a reported assault on the justice park, where investigators located a victim who had received a blow to the head with a blunt object.

The drunk 24-year-old man was taken to hospital for minor injuries. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Around 2:45 a.m. Saturday, a fight broke out on Drunken Street on Block 2900 on 29th Avenue.

“During the altercation, one person suffered minor injuries after being allegedly hit by an improvised weapon,” Terleski says.

The incident is still under investigation.

On Sunday, around 3 a.m., a drunken man caused riots at a camp on Kildonan Avenue in Enderby. The 34-year-old man was arrested and later released without charge, once sober.

Around 7 a.m. Sunday, business staff at Block 800 on Waddington Drive interrupted a break and an ongoing entry.

A man and a woman were trying to steal tools and other objects.

A witness followed the suspects as they fled and informed police about their position.

The suspects abandoned their vehicle near the intersection of Highway 97 and Pleasant Valley Road and walked away, but were quickly found by police dog Jagger while hiding in bushes.

A 28-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested and face several potential charges.
