EastEnders star Letitia Dean shared devastating family news in her acceptance speech at the British Soap Awards tonight (Saturday, June 11). The actress, who has played Sharon Watts for almost 30 years on the BBC’s long-running soap opera, won the Outstanding Success Award for her stunning performances over the years.
He dedicated the award to his father, who revealed that he had died a week ago. Accepting the award, he told ITV viewers, “I lost my dad a week ago, so this is for him. I hope he’s proud.”
He added: “This is for my dad and my dear mom, I hope you enjoy your fish and chips.”

Letitia received the Anita Dobsonm Award which her mother played on the soap Angie Watts until 1988. The couple hugged while Sharon said she had not seen her “mummy” in a long time.
Anita said: “She’s been in 2,000 episodes, she’s had 237“ doof-doof’s, ”and she’s also owned Queen Vic six times.
“She’s had amazing stories, the death of her son, the return of her father’s grave and her affair with Phil Mitchell, which reached 23.5 million viewers. It’s quirky, fun, talented, glamorous and iconic.” .
