EasyJet cancels more than 200 flights from Gatwick, jeopardizing medium-term breaks for thousands of travelers

EasyJet says it will cancel more than 200 flights over the next 10 days, putting medium-term breaks at risk for thousands of passengers.

The airline said about 24 flights from London Gatwick would be affected every day between June 6.

A spokeswoman for the company said: “We are very sorry for the late notice of some of these cancellations and the inconvenience caused to customers booked on these flights, but we believe that this is necessary to provide reliable services during this period. busy.

“Customers receive from today (Friday) and have the option to re-book their flight or receive a refund and can request compensation in accordance with regulations.”

“Over the next week we will be operating about 1,700 flights a day, with about a quarter of these operating to and from Gatwick.”

The news comes after a software problem forced the airline to cancel about 200 flights on Thursday, causing massive queues at several airports in the UK.

In other interruptions to the trip, Liverpool FC fans faced long delays at the Port of Dover on Friday as they waited to cross the Canal to Paris for Saturday’s Champions League match.

The port said passengers should pack adequate supplies as “a very busy week” is expected.

Airline passengers have also faced long queues at airports such as Manchester, Stansted and Bristol.
