Edmonton police are asking for help locating a 13-year-old girl

A 13-year-old girl has disappeared into the city and Edmonton police said her disappearance is considered out of character.

In a press release Sunday afternoon, police said Lila Smith was last seen on Friday, June 24, around 8:30 a.m., in the 131 Avenue and Street area. 91, which is next to Killarney High School.

Smith is described as five feet 10 inches with a slender structure, weighing about 100 pounds. He has blue eyes and short brown hair, his family said. (Edmonton police previously said he had brown eyes, but his family told Global News that is not right).

He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt with white body and arms, a black and white plaid hooded pocket, along with torn blue jeans and black Converse shoes, and carried a backpack.

Leighton Smith, Lila’s little sister, last saw her on Friday morning.

“I miss her so much and love her so much,” she told Global News on Monday. “It’s very different from her disappearing.

“My sister means a lot to me. We do almost everything together. When I get up in the morning and she’s not there, it’s devastating. “

Family friend Robyn Hanson said Lila was last seen on the school bus Friday morning.

“We found out that Lila had gone to school in the morning and later we found out she hadn’t been to school all day.”

Lila is in 8th grade, Hanson said.

“Lila is an amazing girl. She is 13. She looks much older for her age because she is quite tall. She is artistic. She is introverted. She is shy. She loves her family and friends more than anything. Such a child artistic and beautiful. “

Hanson said that Lila had just started this school and that this is an uncharacteristic behavior for her.

“She stays very close to home. She enjoys spending time with her sister and her animals, drawing and spending time with family.
