Elon Musk responds on Twitter and asks for the trial to be delayed

In a response filed Friday to the Twitter lawsuit, Elon Musk’s legal team is rejecting the company’s attempt to have a speedy trial in September.

  • The Tesla CEO, on the other hand, is calling for it to take place in February, according to the media.

Why it’s important: Twitter seems to intend to fix it as soon as possible, but Musk wants to have more time for discovery, presumably to have a better chance of building his case.

  • According to a summary of the file reviewed by the New York Times, Musk accused Twitter of “delays” and “evasive responses” to the question of how many spam bots were active on the site.
  • This problem lies at the heart of his stated refusal to pursue the agreement. So far, Musk has not been satisfied with the information Twitter has provided.

What happens next: A Delaware Chancellor’s judge will hear arguments Tuesday morning from both sides in the case, according to a court document.

Meanwhile: Also on Friday, the Twitter board urged shareholders to approve the acquisition of the company by Musk, according to a new SEC filing.
