A police car in an emergency call crashed into a double-decker bus on Monday afternoon, leaving an officer at the hospital with minor injuries. The incident, which spectators described as “horrible”, saw a police car and a double-decker bus collide head-on on Fernclough Road, Harpurhey, on Monday (May 30th).
Police quickly closed the road in both directions after the collision shortly after 3 p.m., and drivers and other popular bus services were diverted. Spectacular videos immediately afterwards show the police car visibly damaged in the front, with clouds of smoke also seen from the vehicles.
It was later confirmed that there were no serious injuries, but that a woman in the car had been taken to hospital with minor injuries. Nine people were also assessed by paramedics at the scene.

The cordon remained in place for about an hour, and the scene was cleared about five o’clock in the afternoon. Spectators told the MEN that the sound of the crash was “horrible,” as they also described the scenes of discomfort in later moments.
One person said, “The sound was horrible. The police car was basically inside the bus.” As another added: “I saw the police car turn around at 90 or so. They were driving across the road and crashed directly into the bus and pulled out a large three “.

Greater Manchester police later confirmed that the police car was traveling in blue lights and was responding to a “first-degree” emergency response call when the crash occurred. Stagecoach, the bus service provider 119 involved, said the car had been turning around on the same side of the road before hitting the two floors.
The Northwest Ambulance Service said people were checked at the scene for minor injuries, with no major injuries. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service teams also attended, putting both vehicles safe.
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 3.20pm this Monday (Monday 30th May), two firefighters from the Blackley and Philips Park fire stations witnessed a traffic collision on Fernclough Road, Harpurhey, in which they took part. a bus and a police car.

A GMP spokesman added: “This is a collision between a car, a police vehicle, and a bus on Fernclough Road in Manchester. The report came to us shortly after 3.10pm. “An emergency was attended to and a woman, an agent, was slightly injured and taken to hospital.”
