Entertainment Games IGN Themes IGN Discord finally adds text chat support to voice channels

Discord announced today that it is finally adding text chats to voice channels. This means that you no longer have to worry about making sure that your text message is sent to the wrong text channel on your Discord server while making a voice call.

The new feature is similar to text chats available in video communication services, such as Google Meet or Zoom. Previously, if you were in a Discord voice chat and wanted to send a message, you had to do your best to send messages to one or more people in Discord’s emails, create a whole new text channel, or share the message. in a text channel on a Discord server. In some cases, you’ve probably used a completely different messaging app like Twitter or WhatsApp to send the message.

As you can see in the gif below, a new chat bubble icon will appear when you enter a voice channel, which opens the text chat. Each time someone sends a chat message to the voice channel, a small preview will appear at the top right of the app. Discord even told us that messages sent on a voice chat channel will continue there even when the call ends.

Discord points out the press release that each voice channel will have its own text chat; those in this specific voice channel will have the option to send text messages, such as sending a link to a funny YouTube video or someone who has had to mute the microphone for whatever reason you can still communicate with other people during the call.

Discord said voice channel chat is free for all users, and the launch of the feature will begin today, and noted that on June 29, all servers, including community servers, will have access to the chat. of the voice channel.
