Environment Canada has issued a severe storm alert for the Okanagan, including Penticton, Kelowna and Vernon, but not for Kamloops as of 7:30 a.m.
Tuesday’s weather conditions are favorable for strong storms to develop that may be able to produce strong wind gusts, heavy hail and heavy rains.
The latest lightning strikes can be found on Google Maps and showed a lot of activity from Tuesday morning.
Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year and is also responsible for starting forest fires.
Environment Canada issues severe storm monitoring when weather conditions are favorable for the development of storms that can produce one or more of the following: heavy hail, adverse winds, and torrential rains.
