Erik Ten Hag started a new era for Manchester United on Tuesday morning taking charge of his first coaching session.

After ordering the players to arrive in Carrington very early at 9am, the Dutchman orchestrated the acts on a sunny day at the training complex.

Marcus Rashford was seen in an in-depth conversation with assistant Steve McClaren and it was seen that several key players like Jadon Sancho were putting themselves to the test.

After bringing the former Ajax boss to reverse his fortunes at Old Trafford, fans will be watching the 52-year-old’s way of doing things with his legacy team.

He seemed to feel comfortable in his surroundings, seen walking towards the training camps in the short video posted by the club on social media.

Players were also seen running in a row when the tough pre-season graft started in earnest.

No doubt Ten Hag has a plan to get the best out of the people at his disposal.

Rashford, in particular, suffered a disappointing campaign last quarter and fans know the striker can offer much more for the club from his childhood.

Sir Alex Ferguson was known for his early training sessions and this was reflected by Ten Hag on Tuesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer allowed the players to start at 10:00 in the morning, but the Dutchman wants a wake-up call before his group.

On Tuesday, Deputy Director McLaren, who also worked with Ferguson at Old Trafford, was one of the first to show up when he arrived at 7.45am.

Ten Hag was driven to Carrington shortly after 8 a.m., while all players who have returned for the preseason are said to have been at the training complex before 9 p.m.

Ten Hag also wants to foster a positive team spirit in the Red Devils ’locker room and has therefore insisted that the squad should eat together and socialize after training.

Ferguson made similar demands during his 26-year tenure at the club, but since then that culture has evaporated within the field.

In an effort to prioritize ball drills during the early sessions, Ten Hag has also told his staff to mow the lawn to exactly 15mm so that players can catch up quickly with their passing requirements.

United have yet to make a major move in the transfer market, but the deal for Barcelona and Holland midfielder Frenkie de Jong is nearing completion.

Sportsmail sources have indicated that the agreement between United and Barcelona is for the Dutch star to be completed at ’90 percent ‘with only the most detailed details of the agreement remaining to be closed.

It is understood that United will pay around £ 55 million to the Spanish club for De Jong. This fee could rise to around £ 70 million.

The addition of De Jong would give a welcome boost to the squad and perhaps trigger more moves in the market with Ajax striker Anthony, another target.
