BEREA, Ohio – The Cleveland Browns have agreed to the terms of a new four-year deal with tight end David Njoku, a source told ESPN on Friday.
The deal is worth $ 56.75 million, including $ 28 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN.
The Browns put the franchise label on Njoku earlier this offseason and had until July 15 to agree on a long-term contract. Had they not done so, Njoku would have played the 2022 season in the $ 10.931 billion franchise bid, according to a note previously obtained by ESPN.
Njoku, 25, has 148 receptions in five seasons with the Browns, including 36 for 475 yards and four touchdowns last season.
His best season was during quarterback Baker Mayfield’s debut year in 2018, when he hit the top 56 catches of his career by 639 yards. After being targeted 88 times that year, Njoku’s goals have declined over the past three seasons.
The Browns, however, expect Njoku to prosper by advancing with new quarterback Deshaun Watson.
According to ESPN Stats & Information’s research, Njoku set his career highs last season in yards per goal and yards after catch per reception, showing off the physical skills that made him the 29th overall pick in the draft. 2017.
