LAS VEGAS – Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone decided it was finally time to head to the sunset.
Cerrone (36-17) retired from the sport of mixed martial arts on Saturday, immediately after losing to Jim Miller in UFC 276. Before the fight, Cerrone said he intended to fight twice as much. beyond this weekend, but chose to convene. instead it is a career.
“I don’t love it anymore,” Cerrone said. “I’ll be a movie star, girl.”

Cerrone, 39, who has devoted himself to acting in recent years, is one of the most beloved fighters of the last decade. He was a fan favorite at the WEC from 2007 to 2010, when the promotion dissolved in the UFC. He has 23 wins in the UFC, tied for second all-time.
Fighting from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cerrone was best known for his “anyone, anywhere, anytime” attitude toward wrestling. He was one of the most active fighters on the UFC roster during his heyday and was willing to fight any opponent the UFC had against him.
However, Cerrone fell short in some of the most important fights of his career, including three WEC title fights, a UFC title fight, and a hugely successful event against Conor McGregor in 2020. Cerrone went being so open about his battles with “free nights,” that he loved his fans even more.
Cerrone ends his career with 48 appearances between the WEC and the UFC combined, more than any other wrestler story. He also won 18 “Fight of the Night” bonuses, tied with Charles Oliveira most of the time.
