Areas around the Tulameen River are on evacuation alert.
Evacuation alerts have been issued for areas of the Similkameen Valley as the risk of flooding in local rivers increases.
Okanagan Similkameen Regional District has issued an alert for rural Princeton, Tulameen and Coalmont.
“Due to the increase in flood erosion on the Tulameen River, especially between Tulameen River Road and Coalmont, the province is carrying out work to repair Shatford Dyke,” a press release issued on Friday afternoon said.
“Based on this assessment, Emergency Management BC (EMBC) has approved an application for authorization to complete the works and the Ministry of Forests has approved the works on the river. The works are expected to be completed by the end. next week “.
