Exclusive: The Premier League star arrested on suspicion of two new rape attacks

A prominent Premier League footballer arrested on suspicion of rape has been questioned further about alleged separate attacks on a different woman last year, according to Telegraph Sport.

The player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been released on bail until August after spending about 30 hours in custody in the face of three alleged attacks.

Telegraph Sport revealed on Monday how the player had been arrested in the early hours for an alleged rape that was said to have taken place last month.

In an updated statement, Scotland Yard said: “On July 4, police reported a rape of a woman in her 20s. The alleged rape took place in June 2022. On July 4, a 29-year-old man was arrested at a Barnet home on suspicion of rape and arrested.

“While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two alleged rape incidents that were allegedly committed in April and June 2021 against a different woman of about 20 years. He has subsequently been released on bail until a date in August. Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing. “

The club has been contacted by Telegraph Sport and knows the player is being questioned. Police said the man had been initially arrested “at a Barnet address.”

The player is internationally recognized and it is unclear whether he will now play on his club’s pre-season match schedule.

The Premier League season starts on August 5 and the player is also due to play in the Qatar World Cup this November.
