The Golden State Warriors had a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter of the two NBA Finals games at the Chase Center, but the series is headed to Boston tied 1-1. The Celtics have not lost consecutive games in these playoffs, but there will be pressure to keep the track at home.
Golden State will enter Wednesday’s third game with a lot of confidence after a comfortable victory in Game 2. Does that mean the momentum is on the part of the Warriors?
The Celtics enter Game 3 as favorites, but the Warriors are a slight favorite in the series at BetMGM.

What do they use to increase the half-time orange slices in these locker rooms? Through two games in these finals, the Warriors have beaten the Celtics in the third quarter by 35 points. Two games are not a trend, but hey. In the other three quarters, the Celtics played well enough to compete for an 18th NBA title record. In the third quarter, they are asleep behind the wheel.
It’s hard to know what to think of these ugly third quarters. In the regular season, Boston was the best team in the third quarter of the league. The Warriors were the second best. Now the lights are off for the Celtics. In Game 1, the Celtics needed a historic rally in the fourth quarter to win and they basically got it by becoming the Warriors and raining 3s.
We ignore this issue at this time. The series returns to Boston, where the Celtics went 28-13 in the regular season, good for second home wins in the East. They are certainly friendly boundaries, although the ghosts of the old Garden did not move around the corner to the new Garden. The Celtics are the healthy favorites in Game 3.
Ime Udoka is the opposite of sincere: he is one of the least close coaches in the league. But the Celtics coach explained exactly what his team needs. “We’re 13-2 when we have 15 or fewer staff losses in the playoffs, and we’re 0-5 when we have 16 or more,” he said, working as a journalist for them. “That tells a story.”
Tell a story. And the main character in this subplot is Draymond Green. The Warriors ’best defender held Jaylen Brown to 5 of 17 shots and“ tried to wrap up the game, ”Brown said. Maybe the Celtics should have turned down?
Green, however, did not keep Jayson Tatum, who was under-36 on the floor in Game 2. Tatum has a billing issue. He only needs 11 more control losses to break the 2018 LeBron James playoff record set in 2018. If the Boston scoring leader tightens the screws, the Celtics should be in a much better position.
There’s nothing left to sneak into the Warriors and Celtics. They can only make their intentions come true or fall short. The big moments, which we will probably remember more from these finals in five years, will decide game 3, if that means Green is going to another player, Stephen Curry is losing 50 or Tatum is going to look for a triple-double. But no quarter will decide the third game.
