Fall Guys update fixes party invitations on PS5 and makes Switch version less annoying

After being free less than a week ago, Fall Guys is getting its first major update to fix various technical and visual issues across all platforms. Developer Mediatonic has released the update early this morning, which fixes some glaring issues, including the fact that gamers using the PlayStation 5 version could not send or receive invitations to the friends party on other platforms with Xbox, PC or Nintendo Switch. (Previously, they were told to mitigate the problem by re-downloading the PS4 version of Fall Guys).

In addition to overcoming this hurdle, important for a game that is best played with some fellow beans, the Nintendo Switch version update fixes bug animations. Now, other characters no longer look like stop-motion animations or bad GIFs that float strangely across the level. Mediatonic has detailed all the corrections included in a thread on its official Twitter page.

Today we made some changes, here are a lot of them

The change from Fall Guys to a free model is giving new life to the game. It became the family favorite of the pandemic when it was temporarily free on PlayStation Plus, although over time its popularity and number of players declined. Now, after being acquired by Epic Games and moving to a free model, the game has reached a number of 20 million players in the first two days of the relaunch.

Long-time gamers, of whom I’m one, may feel that mistakes and errors are nothing new, even though Mediatonic is playing catch-up in its first week with critics. As someone who has often kept up with friends during the pandemic while in the shape of beans, I am very relieved to see the visual corrections on the Switch. When I first booted the portable version over the weekend, it was annoying to see other barely animated characters. I know Fall Guys occasionally leans toward creepy vibes and silly goal, but the joke gets old quickly when it looks like you’re playing a broken game.

A free game has to act quickly to fix these problems or the public can quickly turn to more reliable alternatives and forget about it. Now, if only all the leftover crowns were turned into a much more useful Show-Bucks coin instead of the Kudos rewards that are mainly used in basic items.
