Fallen Toronto firefighters are honored at the annual memorial service

Firefighters who lost their lives “while protecting lives, property and the environment in Toronto” were honored Sunday morning at the city’s annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

The ceremony was held at Toronto Fire Service Station 334, 339 Queens Quay W., east of Spadina Avenue.

During the meeting, Mayor John Tory, Chief of Fire Matthew Pegg and members of the Toronto Fire Department, along with representatives of the Toronto Professional Fire Association and the Canadian Foundation for Fallen Firefighters, spoke and deposited. wreaths.

The names of 21 fallen firefighters, as well as the date they died, are added to the Memorial Picture of Honor, which since 1848 commemorates 319 firefighters who died in the line of duty.
