Family tribute to “excellent father” and “much-loved son” Marcus Dunkerton

The family of a man who died in a village in Gloucestershire has honored him as an “excellent father” who will leave “a big hole” in their lives. Marcus Dunkerton, 40, was stabbed to death at his home in Thomas Close, Charfield, on Friday night (June 24).

Police and ambulance crews were called to an address in Charfield, near Wotton-under-Edge, shortly before 11pm on Friday. Detectives said the first paramedics at the scene found a man who “unfortunately could not be rescued.”

His family has now issued a tribute to him through Avon and Somerset police. His partner, parents and other family members said, “No word can ever express the deep sadness and loss we feel as a family. Marcus was a son, brother, partner, father, stepfather, uncle and son-in-law much loved by all of us.

“He was an excellent father. We have a broken heart. He will leave a big void in our lives and we will miss him very much.”

The family continued to ask people to respect their privacy in what remains a very difficult time for them and everyone they met Marcus.

Grant Bradley, 46, of Blackwell Street, Kidderminster, appeared today (June 27) in Bristol Magistrates Court on charges of the murder of Mr Dunkerton and possession of an offensive weapon. He was arrested pending his appearance in Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday (June 29).

The police investigation continues, and anyone with information or footage is asked to help and who has not yet spoken to officers to contact the Major Crimes Investigation Team.

If you can help, call 101 and give the caller ID number 5222150363 or fill out the online appeals form.
