Famous Indian singer KK died at the age of 53.

The beloved creator of the hit, whose full name was Krishnakumar Kunnath, died on Tuesday in Calcutta, India, after collapsing hours after his concert, reports Times of India.

KK was in town for two days of concerts and began to feel sick during the performance on Tuesday night in front of a thousand concertgoers.

The whole thing lasted about an hour, after which it collapsed in the hotel room, local media reported.

The singer, who had nearly 300,000 followers on Instagram, was rushed to hospital but doctors were unable to save him. According to the media, KK finally suffered a heart attack.

The singer was known for his versatility on stage. He recorded and performed songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali, which contributed to his growing fan base.

After the news of her tragic death came to light, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid an emotional tribute to Twitter.

“Saddened by the untimely demise of well-known singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK,” he tweeted.

KK manager Shubham Bhatt rushed to Instagram to share a photo with KK and other members of his team and wrote, “The most unforgettable and best years of my life. Dumb.”

KK put his name on the map after the release of his first solo album, “Pal”, in 1999.

He then landed his first innovative role in Bollywood with the song “Tadap Tadap Ke” from the hit 1999 film “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”.

His other popular hits include “Tune Maari Entriyaan” and “Sach Keh Raha Hai” from the movie “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein”.

KK leaves behind his wife and two children, who are due to fly to Calcutta on Wednesday, according to Indian Express.
